The house

A fifteen-minute walk from the centre of Ericeira, and ten minutes on foot to a surfable beach.

Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping four. A fully equipped house, and a balcony with a view over the garden to the sea. Outside there is a terrace with a table, and several more shared gardens that guests are free to use. It is set up well for remote work: the table upstairs has the view, the office downstairs is a separate room with plenty of natural light, and two people can work at the same time on a reliable connection.

It sits on a quiet street in a private community, surrounded by green. Ribeira d'Ilhas is five minutes up the coast road.

The place

Ericeira

Ericeira is a fishing village on the coast north of Lisbon: whitewashed houses with blue-painted trim, cobbled streets, a working harbour. It was designated the first World Surfing Reserve in Europe in 2011.

Seven named breaks lie within a few kilometres, from beginner sand at Foz do Lizandro to the reefs at Ribeira d'Ilhas and Coxos.

Outside there is a wooden rack for boards against the stone wall, a rail for wetsuits and a drain underneath, so wet kit stays out of the house.

House rules

This is a home. I live here for a good part of the year and let it when I am away, so it is furnished and equipped as a house rather than as a holiday let.

Gatherings are welcome and encouraged. I ask only that music and noise stay at a reasonable level, and that the house is treated with respect.
